I have featured this product on my Instagram -  Top 5 Skincare Products.. It was a collab with another beauty blogger Illiya https://www.instagram.com/illiyaridzuan/ . Pay her a visit and checkout her Top 5 Skincare Products.

From Left: Mary Kay Botanical Effects Cleansing Gel, Foundation Primer, Timewise Moisture Renewing Softener , Botanical Effects Moisturizing Gel and Timewise Moisture Renewing Gel Mask

I always wear a face primer prior to applying my foundation....why? Is not that I am vain it just help my makeup last so much longer and adhear better on my skin.I have not really tried out tonnes of face primers. To date I have only tried 3....one of them is not really a face primer. It was a Post Shave Balm by Nivea....which I need to reuse it before it expires....lol.

Check the link below for  review on the Nivea Men - Replenishing Post Shave Balm.

Product Description:

Mary Kay® Foundation Primer Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 15† is a must-have product if you want the most flawless look possible. The formula contains ingredients which scatter light, helping to diminish the appearance of fine lines and skin imperfections. This effect is known as a“soft focus effect,” and is used by professional makeup artists to create the look of perfect skin. The primer acts as an invisible “buffer” that not only  fills in imperfections but also acts like a “magnet” to give your foundation real staying power.

This formula is so unique it has a patent pending. This amazing product provides a perfectly flawless finish while helping to minimize the appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles. Plus, it’s oil-free and contains an ingredient that absorbs excess oil as an added bonus.

What I like about it?

Mary Kay Foundation Primer contains SPF 15 in it. So you get some level of protection against UV rays. It come in a really travel friendly tube and has a pointy tip dispenser.

I like the light weight gel formula that does not leave my skin greasy and diffuses light for smoother looking skin (mattifies). It fills pores and fine lines making the face a much smoother canvas for foundation application.

Unlike other primers, this product does not crumble as it contain silica. Silica is a mineral that absorbs oil and acts as an optical diffuser  that help skin look smoother. Suitable for sensitive skin, oil free and fragrance free.

I really don't any negative thing to say about this product and it is almost going to finish.....that shows the love that I have given to this product. If you are interested in knowing more about this product, just drop me a message.

In my next post I will be sharing with you beauty junkies details about my foundation routine. Do check out my Instagram for another Glam Squad Beauty Collab Entry which is happening some time this week - This time we will be sharing with you our fav concealers, contouring and setting products. Thank you for dropping by and stay fabulous.

Back to Basic Face Series : Pt 1 - Primers & Foundations

The glam squad collaboration series are back. This round we will be doing a back to basic kind of series. We are going to be focusing all about the face in this collab.

Part one of our Face Series is all about setting the base right and by base I mean prepping and priming the face and getting the right foundation for the right event or should I say the right coverage.... The squad will have 5 different product reviews for each category to share with you. These products consist of affordable to high-end brands. Hope the reviews will help you guys have a better understanding of the products and and how it works on different skin types.

When it comes to identifying the right product for the right skin type, what we read over the internet may or may not be as what they describe it to be. Over the years, I have always thought that my skin type is normal to dry. This is because I don't really oil up at the T-zone and my mum will constantly ask me to apply more moisturizer as my skin looks really dry. Mum knows best. So I religious follow her advise. Little did I know there is something called the combination skin type. Lol

I have done my fair share of damage to my skin my by applying luminous type of make on my skin to make sure it was not dry. After becoming an independent beauty consultant with Mary Kay, I came to understand that skin type is more than just dry or oily and not only the skin care line has to suite our skin type but aslo the makeup formulas have to be right.

Phew, I know that was a long long rant on my skin type discovery. I have combination to oily skin. My skin is very sensitive as I breakout into small rash bumps post weekly facial hair removals and if dust touches my skin.

Here are some of the products that are well suited for such skin type:

From left :  Sendayu Tinggi Collagen Face Spray, Sephora Smoothing Primer, The Body Shop Fresh Nude Foundation in the shade Yucatan Honey, Mary Kay Timewise Mate Wear Foundation in the shade Bronze 1 (Combination to Oily Skin) and Mary Kay Foundation Primer.

This is the Sendayu Tinggi Collagen Facial Spray  for Firming and Lifting. It is used to prep, firm and lift the skin prior to makeup application. It can be used as a mist to moisten makeup brush as well.

Let me share with you some product details :

Product Description:

Before Makeup Face Toner - Facial toner and moisturizer enriched with Collagen to soften the skin. It gives out a radiant and natural makeup look, thus making the skin elastic and supple. To be used after cleansing and before applying makeup.

First Impressions :
Price point, super affordable. Quality is amazing, the formula does not irritate skin, does not cause any form of breakouts and smells amazing.

Get's absorbed well into skin and does not leave sweat like water formation on skin. The only thing that I wish that they will modify in the future is the sprayer. It literally sprays on your face, I was hoping for the dispenser to elegantly mist the mixture on my face.....but it sprayed.

I have been receiving compliments for good skin lately. I did feel some firming action taking place....this a not the botox kind of firming...it firms in a comfortable way. As for lifting, I have not experiences any lift action going on my face...but my face is a tad smaller than what it used to be. I can't really tell the difference cause I am working-out on a regular basis for the past 4 weeks...thus my face did shrink a little.

I do mist the product on my face after applying Mary Kay's Moisture Renewing Softener daily. I have add this step to morning face routine. Even when I don't wear makeup I still use it. It can be mixed with other products too.

If you are interested in getting this facial spray, check them out at Watson's or go directly to their website. Tomorrow I will share with you details of the other products that I use to prep my face prior applying foundation.

Bloop Cosmetics Diamond Eyeshadow Review

Bloop Cosmetics has been my recent discovery for this year. Little did I know they had a good line of makeup items. My blogger friend Hari is the one who introduced them to me. If you are looking for a good shimmer pans at  super affordable price, Bloop Cosmetics is your answer.

After visiting their physical store at Gurney Plaza Penang, I checked them out on-line too. I was to deep into picking colors that I forgot to take picture of the store and cosmetic line. Sorry, you can't blame a shopaholic for this you know. The shop lot is in Parkson, old wing. Ground floor just near NARS.

The sales consultant was so warm and welcoming. She took the trouble to check each and every colour that I had picked and made sure she could help me find them.

Bloop beauty products development takes place all around the globe. Their partners are from France, Malaysia, Denmark, Korea, HK, China, UAE, Taiwan, Australia, Germany and Indonesia. So far, I have only seen their nail polishes in store like SaSa and Watsons.

These Diamond Eyeshadows comes in 2 sizes; a large pan and these mini ones. The large pans retails at RM 28 per piece and the mini ones were RM 18 a piece. I got all these 15 colours and an empty palette for only RM 89. Crazy right. The actual price would be RM 270 just for the colours and RM 30 for the palette.

All these colours are super pigmented and shimmery at the same time. I did pick up 2 matte shades as the colours that I initially picked was out of stock. They glide on like butter and give a flawless finish. The shimmery pans won CLEO's wall of fame in the year 2010.

Here is the close up of the pans. I just used a double sided tape to secure each pan into the palette.

Tried out the colours on my lids today. I call it Teal soft cut crease look. The colors used to create the look below are 1. Dark Green 2. Blue 3. Black Brown.

First Impression:

Very Pigmented
Affordable
Applies like butter
Has some fall outs

2017 First Palette Review - Kat Von D Metal Mattes

Hello everyone, hope you guys are keeping well. It is almost the end of February now and I have my schedule sorted midways.  Early this year, we had series of relatives visiting and 2 family gathering in my household and I was really busy. Apologies for the silence...

So I din't want this month to end without a post...so here I am with a review. I have a very interesting palette to be sharing with you guys....if you follow me on Instagram I am very sure you would have known by now....It is none other than the The Kat Von D's MetalMatte Palette. Below is how the box and the packaging looks like. The palette is the center one, on the top is the box.

The palette is made in USA and comes with 9 metallic and 13 matte shades. Each pan weighs about 1.7 grams and you can kind of understand by now that this is a steal and any makeup junkie would want to get their hands on this bad boy.

Yes I have dipped my fingers into every single pan in this palette and I have never felt this much value for my money. The top row are the metallic/shimmery ones and the bottom 13 are the matte shades. I was really debating hard if I should be getting this palette...but finally bought it anyway. Firstly the price was really affordable, RM 140 for 22 shades. It is on sale at www.sephoramy.com The service was fabulous, made my order on Wednesday and  got my parcel on Friday.

You also get a guides that details 3 looks that can be created using this palette, Metal Maiden, Metalmatte Mashup and Velvet Romance.

I created a look using this palette this morning and I am calling it the lazy girl's smokey eye. Checkout my video to see a mini tutorial on this look.

Here are some are the swatches and a close up of the look that I created this morning.

So now, let's get into my first impressions:

1. Highly pigmented
2.Smooth application, velvet texture.
3.Awesome finger application
4.Brush application, need to work with care...can give some fall outs.
5. Amazing lasting power, doesn't get dissolved over oily lids
6. Pigment and shimmer stays put, may crease slightly if you have hooded lids.
7. Value for money (this bad boy is HUGE)

I am loving everything about this palette people. If you are looking into investing in a palette this year...get yourself this. You will love it just as much as i do. It is on sale at Sephora now...original price is RM 280+-

Sephora Haul : NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream (SMLC)

This is another p.s. I love Lipsticks moment people. When I first started doing or wearing makeup I was all about collecting single eye shadows and random no brand palettes. My main intention of getting them is simply to decorate the eye lids of mine. Back then, money's worth was my mantra, no high-end cosmetics no hording syndrome....thing were so very normal. I never really invested or took care in buying or so much so trying out different shades of lipsticks.

I used to love mum's Clinique lipstick...they used to come in good sliver coloured sticks. They used to look so majestic and shiny. There were green coloured sticks too...good all days. Mum had mostly red tones. I used to borrow them, only wore lipsticks for special occasions. Who would have thought?...That I too will own more than 1 lipsticks.

Now, I am obsessed with lipsticks and I am adventurous in trying many formulas and colours. Recently, I got 2 sets of the soft matte lip cream trios. I am so so in love with all of the shades from both the sets.

For those of you who don't know, the Nxy Soft Matte Lip Creams comes in 34 beautiful shades. Two of their best sellers are Budapest & Rome.

Budapest:
Rome:

My trios came with these shades:

From left: Madrid, Ibiza and Budapest

From left: Prague, Milan and Seoul

Each pack was retailed at RM 66.00 and they were sure a value for money. As I said I love them all and they go well with caramel skin tones surprisingly. I was a little skeptic when it came to shades like Milan and Ibiza. They were on the brighter end of pinkish nudes.

Here are some swatches of these shades on my lips, I did not prime nor lighten my lip colour as I normally do prior to applying bright colored lipsticks.

To date, I have only worn Madrid and Budapest, I will soon be doing a first impression review on my blog. If you are thinking of getting them, please do not hesitate or wait any longer. They make great holiday gifts too. Not convinced yet? Here is a mini review on a the colors that I have worn 2 days in a row...junkie much?

Mini review:
They last all day and they are kiss proof. They don't transfer unless you have eaten an oily meal while wearing them. Doesn't dry out the lips or cause flaking. Be sure to allow the first coat to dry prior to applying a second coat. Else the will stick.

Madrid is a beautiful brownish - reddish - maroonish red that makes you feel sexy instantly...or should i say effortlessly.

As for Budapest, it is going to be my go to lip cream, I feel is like a perfect nude for coloured girls. You can wear it for work, play or a night out with the girls. An every day, every occasion kind of color. I would even wear it to bed....that is how much I love Nyx Budapest me ladies.

So, go and get yours today....

First Impression Friday : Maybelline New York - Dream Velvet soft Matte Hydrating Foundation

Today is all about the face, last Tuesday I went as a plus 1 with my husband to his company's Annual
Dinner. The theme was "The Great Gatsby" and I was over the supermoon when I heard about it. There is definitely something about me and dressing up...I just love spending hours of my time playing dress up and putting on makeup. Days before the actual event I tried doing my 20's inspired makeup look to tie both my glittery dress and jewels together.

So for the face, I wanted a light weight foundation that will last me a good deal at the same time maintains the moisture on my face. I bought the Maybelline New York Dream Velvet Soft Matte Hydarting Foundation in the shade 90 Honey Beige. This was a friend's finding in Watsons. He is none other than Hari, author of  https://fiercepaint.wordpress.com/ the only male beauty guru that I know. He said that he could blend and work that colour on his skin and I just felt like I could give it a try. If it din't match me, I could always pass it down to mummy dear. She is way way lighter than me.

So here is the look I created for the event... this is the try-out version:

The rave is going to be about this foundation till the end of this blog post, grab yourself some tea and read on.

The Maybelline New York - New Dream Velvet Soft Matte Hydrating Foundation, a mouthful. Is my recent purchase for the drug store - Guardian. I bought it for RM 39.90.

Watson's is having their year end sale and it is only RM 35.91.

They come in 8 different shades and the last 2 is fairly compatible for caramel skin tones.

In US there are 12 shades, we don't have 92 Caramel and 95 Coconut

Product Info:

Size :  Comes in a 12 M Tube - 30 ml 1FL.OZ
Tube Material : Fancy Matte Plastic Tube
Price : Watsons - RM 35.91
Guardian - RM 39 - ish

Products Description:

1st gel whipped foundation. Fresh, new and flawless... Dream Velvet whips fresh gel into a velvet-soft texture. Complexion is perfected and smooth with a soft-matte finish, just like velvet. Skin feels fresh with lasting hydration.

What I liked about it?
Price point, a foundation under RM 40 is definitely a make-up bag essential category for me. Why? I am very forgetful and I don't want to misplace my expensive foundation. Plus is super affordable.

Colour that can be worn by caramel skin tone, it has a very slight brownish orange undertone to it...thus, it make covering black spots or marks easier.

I like the gel texture that changes into a velvety finish, it is not all that mate. I like how it makes my skin/face mildly dewy.

Hydrating and does not make your makeup cake upon powder application. You can do as many touch up as you like. They hydrating properties helps with combining products. So you can mix and match this foundation with other products.

What I don't like about it?
It fills pore and lines...it is a good thing but if you have large pores and lines on your face like me, make sure you evenly apply this foundation, else all the foundation is going to get absorbed into your face rather than sitting on it. I had to do a second layer to even out the application and the finish it gave.

Overall Ratings :  4/5, I wore the makeup/look for a good 8 hours and it lasted a great deal. I did not appear on my t-zone and my face felt hydrated. The makeup was on point till I removed it before bed.
